Main differences:
1.Quartz is a naturally occurring mineral. The main components are crystal, agate, sandstone, etc; It can also be artificially synthesized. It has single crystalline structure.
2. Silica is a non naturally occurring amorphous glass state. The structure of amorphous materials is a chaotic arrangement of short-range order and long-range disorder.
After processing, fused silica and fused silica will be obtained. Here are the differences:
Fused Quartz:
1. It usually refers to products made by melting natural crystals as raw materials.
It may contain a small amount of natural impurities (such as hydroxyl OH), but the purity is still high.
More commonly used in the fields of optics and industry.
2.Fused Silica / Synthetic Silica:
Usually refers to ultra-high purity silica glass produced through chemical synthesis, such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
Extremely high purity (above 99.9999%), with very low impurities and hydroxyl content. It is the core material of semiconductor industry and fiber optic communication.
They are completely identical in terms of physical and chemical properties. There may be slight differences in optical performance.
Most of our products are made of fused silica, and a small number of optical products are made of fused silica. Molten silica is also known as JGS1 quartz glass.
